現在ある千歳橋から松本城に入るところには、江戸時代には大手門があり、橋の名前も大手橋という名前でした。
枡形の特徴として、大手橋を渡ると右に道は曲がりその先が小さな広場になっています。
以前あった店舗が閉店したのち、市に土地を譲渡し、発掘調査を終えた後、
2013年より「大手門枡形跡広場」として市民にも開放されました。
