Think you’ve seen it all?

I thought I had. Then I went to the street performer festival known as the Daidogei.

Yes, that’s his hair! Dipped in ink. Accompanied by a guy playing the shamisen.

These folks are truly unique. Which makes this festival an event to remember.

Matsumoto’s 6th Daidogei street performance spectacle is taking place tomorrow, September 29th, all over downtown, from 10:30 am to 6:30 in the evening. The histrionics will be going on along all the main avenues and down a dozen side streets. You can’t miss it.

Nor would you want to.

The forecast is calling for cloudy skies, comfortable temps, and only a small chance of rain.

So if you’re in town, do whatever you can to make it out and take in the fun.

Because how often do you get to see a ten-foot-tall sheep?

For more pictures of past festivals – and information all in Japanese – check the Matsumoto Daidogei website. Although really, do you need any more prodding? Hope to see you there!
