A quiet and safe, centrally located hotel
Hotel Ikedaya is located along the Metoba River on a quiet road near Nakamachi and Nawate Street. Centrally located near popular sightseeing spots, the hotel offers a nice, safe and relaxing environment.
Hotel’s Convenience with a ryokan’s Heart
Once a traditional Japanese Inn (ryokan), in 1990, Ikedaya was remodeled into a more modern hotel. The building itself is unmistakably a hotel, but it hasn’t forgotten its roots. The staff is attentive and considerate of the guest’s needs, much like the more traditional ryokan.
Mr. Kakimoto, who has been around the hotel since a kid and now works the front desk, enjoys the relationship he has with the guests, especially the ones that keep returning year after year. He recounted a recent conversation he had with a guest who frequents the hotel often. The guest noted to Mr. Kakimoto, “It’s hard to believe how grown up you are. I still remember you as a baseball capped little boy.” Mr. Kakimoto and the rest of the staff pride themselves on being able to speak with guests in such a friendly way. It may be a hotel’s body, but the heart remains that of a ryokan.
