Summer Fest is here again this year in Matsumoto! But, it only runs until the 27th (Monday), so make sure you go and grab yourself a pint before it ends.
The event is set up Oktoberfest-style with big tents, rows of tables and benches, and a stage in the front.
If you’re a beer lover, you’ll have all kinds of beer to choose from including many German beers (Erdinger, Warsteiner, etc.) as well as a few more local brews like Hotaka Beer and Fujizakura Kogen Beer. We all know German beers are delicious, but do try the Japanese breweries too—Fujizakura Kogen has an excellent Rauch (smoked) and Weizen and Hokata’s Kölsch and Alt beers are not to be missed.
You’ll also find your festival-food favorites—sausages, pizzas, ramen, doner kebabs, and more—in the many food stalls set up around the tables. There was even a soft-serve ice cream stand and a local vegetable seller (in case you need to do some shopping while you’re at it…)
The fest grounds are located in the Hanadokei Park (Flower Clock Park) by the Parco Department Store and are open from 5 PM to 9 PM on weekdays and 11 AM to 9 PM on the weekend.
So grab some friends, food, and tasty beers and enjoy Oktoberfest in August!
