Apple Picking Starts October 1 at Yokoya Farm!

Beside soba noodles, Matsumoto is famous for its apples—and for a good reason, because they are de-licious!

Another apple orchard in Matsumoto, Mimura Farm

For a truly awesome experience on your visit, you should definitely consider the apple picking activity at Yokoya Farm.

This apple orchard is run by a young couple from the bustle of life in Tokyo who moved to the peaceful countryside of Matsumoto. The farm is located near Alps Park in an area full of traditional farmhouses, orchards, and great views.

Every year, Yokoya offers a family-friendly apple picking activity and this year, besides just picking, you’ll even get to make super fresh apple juice with your harvest! Even better, there is an option to build a bonfire and roast apples (whole!) with marshmallows. You’ll also get a couple of apples to take you home with you.

Picking apples at Yokoya Farm

The picking season runs from October 1 to mid-November. Yokoya grows a few different kinds of apples, so depending on the exact date, the type of apples that are ready to pick will change. From early October to mid-October, the Shinano Sweet apples are in season; from mid-October to the end of the month, it’s Shinano Gold; and in November, you can enjoy Sun Fuji apples.

For a complete farm experience, you can even book a stay at Yokoya Farm itself! For info on how to register for the apple picking activity or book a stay, visit the farm’s English website. We also have information on our Apple Picking activity page.
